These papers
Oh the fun. Yeah, my life is so interesting, I go to work and then work on homework. Woo hoo. Just a little sarcasm becuase I know that it will all be worth it in the end. I can’t wait until it is done. I miss my wife, my kids, and my home. Funn how school can take you away from that. I have been sitting here in the Barnes & Noble working for about 4.5 hours. Well, tomorrow I make up for it by picking David up from swimming and school. At least I have the flexible job where I can do that. Thank you, thank you.
Thanksgiving 2009
Awesome.
Thanksgiving was Awesome.
This is part of the tradition Denise started. She cuts out leaves as placeholders. On each of the peoples placeholder we write things we are thankful for about that person. We also take a few of the leaves and write various things we are thankful and hang the leaves up to look like a tree.
This is the family arriving.
Dad arriving with sweet potato dish. Shortly after that we headed to the bar.
Seems like a yearly post
Well, I still remember the username and password for wordpress. Yeah.
Ok so this is the current thing going on right now.
Denise-or the oven- burned two of the Thanksgiving pecan pies. Now she is going to have to go back to the store tomorrow, which is Thanksgiving, and buy more ingredients. She will then come home and make more pies.
The pies are not lightly burnt. They are burnt, not usable. The time is now 10:30 pm. Not a way to start the Thanksgiving holiday.
Today we cleaned all day. I can’t remember the last time we cleaned this much.
Oh, also had a great interview with Mike Hamilton today. He gave great insight into single-source documentation. I am writing a research paper on single source documentation for school. I have read many articles to prepare for the paper. I think I am ready to write. Well, when I have spent so much time reading and taking notes, time to write. Now, I have to put the intelligent words on the page for the paper.
Well, I think I will sign off for now. I do plan on writing more, I really do.
July 28, 2009 – practice for presentation
Well, the day has been long. The time has been worth it.
We practiced for a long time on our presentation for tomorrow. Tomorrow’s presentation is a dry-run for a few people. The dry run is basically a practice before we do the real deal in from of entire company. The Case Competition has been fun, a lot of work, and worth it. I enjoyed the rehearsal time today with one of my Mentors, Troy. The one-on-one time was only because one of the other team members went back to work and the other member left the room because we sort of had a misunderstanding.
The misunderstanding is hard to explain. Basically one person said something to me. I said something back. The other person took it wrong. I said something back and the other person walked away. Well, that is how misunderstandings go.
But, we are able to keep working together. That is one of the benefits of the experience. You think you have patience for people and then it is put to the test. Then you have to decide if you are going to keep that patience going. There is something so important about stepping back and just letting the good happen. Don’t let impatience get in the way of building bridges. Don’t let impatience or judgements get in the way of you being taught by other people. When be teachable is more important, take it.
Anyway that is some of the deep thoughts from me today.
What a weekend
All I know is that the weekend was busy. I am happy to be back at work to take a break from all the fun. Whoo.
Well, actually I would love to do it all again.
I think the best part was watching the kids have fun. They enjoyed Thursday night dinner with Denise’s parents. Denise had a steak on her birthday. Yeah. Still working on getting her dad to take the steaks off the grill before they are dried out and chewy.
Friday the kids enjoyed Mimi and Granddady’s place; the kiddy pool, the baby, and food. I loved watching Devri eat her steak. I had a helping annoying hand in getting my dad to cook the steaks for only so long so it would be medium rare for Denise. She would have eaten it either way but, I like to try and get it right for her, which we did.
Saturday I had to work at Starbuck the first part of the day. Then we all went to meet up with Mimi and Grandaddy again in Forth Worth. We sat outside to eat hot dogs, which pleased David, and waited for the fireworks. We waited until 10:00 and left. I wonder if anyone got to see them. I had to be at work early the next morning.
Sunday was work and take the family to eat at Olive Garden. Why bother cooking at that point. The night was capped off with a very poplular movie that I am not fond of: Twilight. I know Talledaga Nights did not meet the Standards it should have either. It’s hard to pick a good movie.
Dinner
I had three ribs-homemade of course- and a quarter of a chocolate pie. MMMMmmmmmm. I’m good.
Irises for this year
This season has been horrible for my irises. The weather was warm, then cold, then freezing, then too much rain, and of course, windy in between each of those conditions. But, here is a few shots of some of the irises. I wanted to go ahead and get some pics while I could. The wind was bad today.

Hopefully the rest of the plants shed some blooms.

This one is not a hybrid, but hardy.

I applied for this job many weeks ago. At least I have heard about this one. I know that I have not written this past week but there has been quite a bit of stuff going on. Spring Break last week was uneventful. Wednesday I went to the Writers Workshop. Friday I had my meeting. Saturday I watched the kids all day and then we went to the in-laws to eat dinner. Sunday I took the kids to Trade Days USA at Texas Motor Speedway. Devri got a a glitter tattoo of a heart on her arm. She really likes it. I paid too much for it, though. David got a green Batman symbol. It is green because I would not let him get the Hulk that he wanted painted over his entire face. That would be something cool for Halloween and not for $15.00. How do you say not to kids?
Been working a little at looking for a job today. I have spent more time working on my story: XXXXXX. That is the secret code, the working title. Actually, I have a title, I just don’t want to tell anyone yet. I wrote about two typed pages today. I fort of got inspired by the girl a the last workshop I went that said she wrote 375 pages in two weeks. She said the pages were the size of books. Still, that’s a lot. That means I have to finish this thing. All of my thoughts are into this thing. XXXXXX is going to be awesome. It already is. I think I have tapped into a great source of creativity lately.
Oh, crap. I have to go do the dishes.
