Thank you for your interest in TXXXX BXXXXs Accs., Inc. We appreciate the time you took to share your qualifications with us. Selecting the best suited candidate is difficult and the current search is no exception. Although your qualifications are impressive, we have elected to pursue other candidates who more closely meet the job requirements.

Best Regards,

Human Resources

I applied for this job many weeks ago. At least I have heard about this one. I know that I have not written this past week but there has been quite a bit of stuff going on. Spring Break last week was uneventful. Wednesday I went to the Writers Workshop. Friday I had my meeting. Saturday I watched the kids all day and then we went to the in-laws to eat dinner. Sunday I took the kids to Trade Days USA at Texas Motor Speedway. Devri got a a glitter tattoo of a heart on her arm. She really likes it. I paid too much for it, though. David got a green Batman symbol. It is green because I would not let him get the Hulk that he wanted painted over his entire face. That would be something cool for Halloween and not for $15.00. How do you say not to kids?

Been working a little at looking for a job today. I have spent more time working on my story: XXXXXX. That is the secret code, the working title. Actually, I have a title, I just don’t want to tell anyone yet. I wrote about two typed  pages today. I fort of got inspired by the girl a the last workshop I went that said she wrote 375 pages in two weeks. She said the pages were the size of books. Still, that’s a lot. That means I have to finish this thing. All of my thoughts are into this thing. XXXXXX is going to be awesome. It already is. I think I have tapped into a great source of creativity lately.

Oh, crap. I have to go do the dishes.

Site update

March 11, 2009 at 3:11 pm (journal, poetry, web, website update) (, , , )

I updated some new pages on my website.

www.dalogan.com. I added a poem and an artwork page. Not all of the poems have links yet, but then I went way over the edge and put up some pictures of paintings. This is a stretch for me. I have always wanted some place where I can put up everything for display. I don’t know yet which is the best place. I like the web page way because I can style that. I know I could style the wordpress thing, but I haven’t taken the time to learn how yet. I hope to have a little gallery of paintings at some point.

Seedlings-experiment

March 7, 2009 at 9:18 pm (garden, gardening, seeds propagation) (, , , )

This is the latest experiment. The little plant is a mesquite tree. The larger one is a mimosa. The mimosa is a seedling from last year.

This is also why I want a macro lens. Actually, this is the reason I want a camera that could take a macro lens. I know this is blurry.

This is the mimosa, almost camouflaged against the wall paper. Soon I will be able to take close-ups of my experiments so posts will look decent. Well, I say soon, in the next year would be good.

Six mesquite seedlings are now growing.

Hello Doug –

Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities at The XXXXXXX Store.  We appreciate the effort you put into completing your application and enjoyed getting a chance to review your interest in working with us.

Most employees are encouraged to begin their careers with us in our stores – many in a part-time capacity – and since this is the true lifeblood of our business, many continue to build their careers there for many years.  Our store sales and visual merchandising positions expose employees to all aspects of our business — from marketing, merchandising and selling our products, to managing our inventory, leading, teaching and training coworkers.  We offer great cross training to broaden our employees’ perspectives and prepare them for future opportunities in the company.

There are certainly occasions when people with specialized skills or interests such as yours first join our company in a position in our Dallas home office or distribution center.  Unfortunately, at this time we do not have any corporate openings that match your qualifications, background and experience.  We will keep your information on file and contact you should we have a future opportunity to discuss with you.

Again, we appreciate your interest, and wish you success in your job search.

Sincerely,

Taxes done-ready for the money.

March 4, 2009 at 11:55 pm (journal, looking for job, writing) (, , , )

Today was a very thoroughly busy day.

Early morning: therapy session. I am not ashamed to say that I have help. You probably thought I was this good at life all on my own. Sorry, to disappoint, I have help to be this good.

Yeah, well, today I thought I really don’t need to go to my session today. I am good dealing with all that I have to deal with on my own. I love being frustrated. I love being upset at the world for doing horrible things to me. I love that awful sinking feeling every time I am rejected from a potential employers.

But, I guess I am glad I went to my session.

Late morning: Drove with wife to Gainesville to get taxes of 2008 done. I will not disclose the amount of money we will be getting back. All I can say is that I am glad to get something back, the joy is felt only so much because I don’t have the employment income to add to it.

Afternoon: came home and created a profile for Bell Helicopter and applied for a job that I am completely not qualified for.

Evening: went to the DFW writers workshop in Euless. I decided to start heading back to meet with other people of like mindedness. I enjoyed hearing the reading. At some point I hope to read to the group. DFW writers workshop meets weekly. The meeting is a long drive away, but it would be worth it to go to. I want, as said, to better my writing.

Tired now that I got back from the meeting.

What a day

March 3, 2009 at 10:19 pm (Reading, job search, jobs, journal, looking for job, technical writing, writing)

I don’t know what to think about titles to entries, really. Anyway, I have to say that class was really boring tonight, sorry Dr. Mathews. Its just that we went over examples after examples of writing and how to correctly punctuate sentences. That was all we did. We went over the entire quiz from last week, which I got a 90 on. That previous sentence had a non-restrictive clause at the end that needed a comma. I am pretty sure that the previous sentence did not need a comma because the clause at the end of the sentence was restrictive. There (no action) take that. There is an expletive and cannot be a subject of a sentence with good grammatical sense. OK. Let’s slow down the grammar lingo just for a bit.

Feelings: not so good. I don’t like not having full-time employment. Don’t like, that’s weak. I hate that I do not go to work everyday to bring home money to provide for my family. It has been four weeks since I was laid off. Great, now we have a long stretch.

Yesterday I dropped my resume off to some place in Grapevine; names are omitted for their protection. (semi-colon used because the there were two main clauses.) I know that there is a bad economy out there. I really don’t want to get in the mind set like so many other people, but that is hard to do. I want to succeed. My brain is ready to give up and not try very hard. My heart is willing to keep the fight up. My soul is aching for some relief.

Good thing: today is Devri’s birthday. I will get picture up soon. She woke up this morning and looked at the card on the table. She asked in a sly way, “what is this, who is this for?” I told her that the card and candy was hers. She was excited. We all went into her room first thing this morning and sang ‘happy birthday’ to her. When she got home she opened the presents we had for her. This is fun at this age. We can still do all the fun goofy stuff with her. I like that we can do that.

Well, I better go. It is getting late and I told myself to actually work on my story. For some crazy reason I have decided to finish something. Yes, the story that I started like 3 years (digit with years) ago I am going to finish writing. It actually will become a full-length feature film. (hyphen because of the adjective describing the following word) I have made it a goal to complete. I should update on the progress. No, I don’t want anyone to know my secrets.
