more batteries

December 31, 2008 at 8:47 am (journal) ()

Denise bought more batteries and light bulbs last night.

Devri doesn’t have a working nightlight and her flashlight is out of batteries. She can not sit in bed and write after we put her to bed.

Oh the battery dilemma.

Lovely sound

December 28, 2008 at 9:15 pm (beer, brew, homebrew)

I love the sound I hear behind me when I am standing at the stove in the kitchen. I think to myself, what is that weird sound. I wonder, what could be making such a strange gurgle. Is there something in the kitchen that I need to fix? Is there a thing-a-ma-hoochy in the cabinet that has found itself a new home?

No, the soft gurgle is the six and a half gallon carboy in the food pantry working its wonderful magic of fermentation. Oh, how I love that sound. The sound means the potion I brewed yesterday is working. In a few weeks the churning and foaming will end and I will enjoy a nice wheat beer.

yeah, yeah, some more hear music in the background, I hear beer.

Don’t have pictures this time of the brew party, maybe later.

layout?

December 23, 2008 at 3:28 pm (Work)

If I use float positioning to do the layout, does each div inside the layouts divs have to be floating or can they be absolute?

This is a very important question.

Working-waiting

December 22, 2008 at 5:03 pm (Work)

I am sitting here at my computer watching a FTP transfer from my computer to the host server for the company website. I am uploading the files to our GoDaddy account.
A new zip code locator will be there now, Ultimate Locator. I am hoping that everything goes smooth after that, meaning, creating everything.

Just looked; 9 minutes left on the current file. Wow.
This is taking a while. I hope this is done by 5:00. I could leave now if it wasn’t for this transfer taking place.

But, this is just one thing I have done today. I have tried many times today to get to the FTP client. It wasn’t letting me connect. So. when it finally worked I took the chance. That is the way it goes. Keep trying until it lets you connect. Then do your thing. I uploaded pages to the website earlier that only took a second or two. And again, I had to keep trying until the server would connect.

one thing I have not learned yet is how to use the FTP client in my MAcBook Pro. Maybe it does not actually work like I would expect. What I have learned so far is that it will allow for other computers to connect to it. But, what I want to do is connect remotely and then upload my files. I am not too worried about people connecting to me.

And that’s another thing, connecting through Dreamweaver. I almost did that today but really chickened out. I didn’t want it to transfer the whole site and did not know how to do just part of it at a time. So, I just connected and did it manually.

two minutes left.

My eyes are going cross-eyed. It’s now 4:30. I have been waiting for the transfer for about 45 minutes now. I want to get in my vehicle and drive home. I know when I get in my truck it will be cold.

Done.I’m outta here.

Anniversary

December 22, 2008 at 3:01 pm (Uncategorized)

I just want to say that we had a wonderful anniversary dinner on Saturday; Twelve years. Uncle Steve and Aunt Annie-Laurie watched the kids while we went out.
We went to dinner at Saltgrass. Dinner took a few hours. The long time gave us time to talk, which we haven’t actually done in a while.
Denise, thank you for a wonderful time.
Thank you for the years we have been married.
You make be want to be a better person and each and everyday I have you to remind me how wonderful our marriage is.

Hello again,

December 18, 2008 at 9:40 pm (journal)

Today has been somewhat productive. It all depends on my outlook I guess.

We had a conference call with a client about the website and logo we are working on. I asked if they had looked at the sample logo I sent them yesterday. They said yes.

I said, OK.

Then they said, That won’t work for us. We want something a little different. We want something with some equipment or tools in it. We have a guy in the shop that draws good.

I said, Oh. OK.

Then I had to play it up a bit and pretend to cry and say, Oh I get it you are firing me, you don’t like my work.

They didn’t say much after that.

So, I made a logo with a wrench. I copied the wrench a few times and rotated some more and made it look like an “m”. There. Hope they like that.

Euphoria

December 12, 2008 at 6:10 pm (Uncategorized)

Why is it that I can have so much pleasure sitting at Starbuck’s while sipping my coffee. Of course, my headphones are in while listening to internet radio. Sometime I can hear voices. Most of the time the only sound outside the music is the sound of the steamer.

But the sweet voice of Sarah McLachlan drowns out the commercial sounds.

I like the feeling of going insane while seeing only mouths move. I stare outside. It is dusk, the christmas lights on the trees next to all the shops come on. Now there is a glare against the windows. Now the people seem to move faster in and out of the shops.

Now the sounds of Guster. What and interesting name but a melodic sound.I don’t know why there is such peace in the moment, but there is.

I know that this is the end of a long day.
